Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data Delzy Scholars Limited collects through delzyacademy.com and the Delzy Academy platform, why we collect it, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

Who we are
Delzy Academy is operated by Delzy Scholars Limited, a company registered in Nigeria. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at delzyacademy@gmail.com about anything in this policy.
What we collect
We collect only what the platform needs in order to work.
- Account details. Your email address, and your name if you give one. Accounts are created and signed in through Firebase Authentication, a Google service, which handles your password — we never see or store it.
- Your phone number. Given when you set up your account, and used for one thing: adding you to the WhatsApp study group where the tutor answers questions. We do not send you SMS, and we do not pass your number to anyone else. It is optional in the sense that you can change or remove it at any time from your profile.
- What you have bought. Which courses or bundles you hold, when access was granted, and when it expires if it was sold for a period.
- Payment records. The amount, the currency, the date, the payment method type, and a reference. Card numbers, bank details and PINs are handled entirely by Paystack and never reach our systems.
- What you write. Ratings and reviews you leave on a course you have bought, shown with the name or email on your account.
- Support correspondence. Emails you send us, kept so we can answer and refer back to them.
- Technical records. Ordinary server logs — IP address, browser, pages requested — kept briefly for security and to diagnose faults.
Why we use it
- To give you what you paid for. Granting access to courses, and keeping a record of the purchase for our accounts and for tax.
- To run your account. Signing you in, resetting a password, answering support requests.
- To operate the business. Telling tutors when a lesson upload failed, when a course was published, or when a colleague has been invited to help.
- To run the study group. Adding students who gave a phone number to the WhatsApp group that accompanies their course.
- To improve the teaching. Reading the ratings and comments students leave, so courses can be corrected and improved.
Email we send
We send transactional email only — messages caused by something you or a colleague did in the account. Sign-up confirmations, password resets, payment receipts, invitations to join our staff dashboard, and notices to a tutor about their own courses.
We do not run marketing campaigns, newsletters or promotional mailing lists from this domain. We do not buy, rent, sell or exchange contact lists, and we do not send on behalf of any other organisation. Should we ever want to send you something promotional, we will ask you first and you will be able to stop it at any time.
Who else handles your data
We use a small number of established providers to run the platform. Each receives only what it needs to do its job, and none of them is permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
- Paystack. Takes payments. Card and bank details go directly to them and are never stored by us.
- Firebase Authentication (Google). Holds sign-in credentials and verifies who you are.
- Cloudflare Stream. Stores and delivers lesson videos.
- Cloudinary. Stores lesson PDFs, notes and course images.
- Infobip. Delivers the email described above.
- Railway and Netlify. Host the application and this website.
Some of these providers operate outside Nigeria, so your data may be processed abroad. We choose providers that offer recognised contractual protections for such transfers. We will also disclose data where the law requires it of us.
How long we keep it
Account and purchase records are kept for as long as you hold an account, and afterwards where we are obliged to retain them — payment records in particular must be kept to meet Nigerian tax and accounting requirements. Server logs are kept briefly. When we no longer need something, we delete it.
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you may ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to a particular use of it. Write to delzyacademy@gmail.com and we will respond within a month.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Students under 18
Many of the exams we prepare candidates for are taken by people under 18, and we expect younger students to use the platform. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to set up the account and make any payment. A parent or guardian may contact us at delzyacademy@gmail.com to see, correct or delete their child’s data at any time.
Keeping it safe
Traffic to and from the platform is encrypted. Lesson videos and materials are served through links that expire, so course content cannot be passed on by copying a URL. Access to the administrative dashboard is limited to named staff, and what they do in it is recorded.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use personal data, we will update this page and the date at the top of it. Where a change is significant, we will tell account holders directly.
